Chicken math

I am absolutely addicted. Already figuring a way to enlarge the coop. Tried to talk to manager at Tractor Supply into letting me take home a couple silkies. But the limit is six and ****** if I don't need six more chickens. I am thinking about going back ha ha

Well, we were only going to get 6 chicks, we now have 14, 4 Productive reds, 2 BO's , 2 BR's, 2 Maran, 3 Ameraucanas, and one Barnevelder. we've never had chicks before, we've had up to 6 pullets at one time. oh and the worst part our neighborhood is against chickens, we do have arrangement for someone to take them if needed. Our neighbors behind us have chickens as well, so the are ok with it, and the ones on our right could care less, and the one on the left can't see in our yard, it's shaded, with lots of trees, on almost two acres, and thats how we talked ourselves into 14 baby chicks.

I'm learning chicken math! I have 5 laying hens, but one skips a day sometimes. So I actually only have 4. You can't get just one chicken because that's sad, and it takes 2 chicks to make 1 hen, right? So I got 2 chicks, but I have to feed them, so it's like I never got them. So I had to get 2 more. So...5h+(2c*2)=5...right?

I think you have some homework lol!
Ok so 5h-1=4h+(2c+2c) -4c {not grown or laying so cannot count}=4h BUT 4h with one coop equals 1h AND 1h simply cannot exist in the known universe ......... You actually have no chickens at all.

And furthermore if any of the non chickens are bantam then I think that leaves a negative number as a bantam does not count since they don't lay regularly.

I can make the 39 in the yard actually equal a 0. :gig

This may not be chicken math BUT it is ONE T-Shirt to rule them all!!

Our TSC had marked Silkies down to 50cents so I bought 5 and 1 of anotherbreed I wanted and gave 3 Silkies to another family. I gave $1.50 away, made another family's 3 kids happy, and I got two Silkies for a $3.00 investment.

Okay officially lost my marbles, We got 24++ layers, 21 known active layers. Added 13 chicks

in January now almost 12 wks old. Bought 3 Salmon Favorelle & a Speckled Sussex 4 wks ago.

Last week took home 13 two day olds high quality chicks from a friend's hatched. Sold 2 to a very needing family, gave away 2 Silver penciled Plymouth Rocks, gave away one Olive Egger so I can keep the rest, Black Copper Marans and Blue Splash Marans from very dark shelled eggs, a gorgeous Columbian Wyandotte, A Cuckoo Blue Bar, and an expensive Partridge Pendesenca.

Let see how I contain myself when a shipment of stunning Crested Black Polish comes on 12th of April. I think I'll shackles myself in the coop next week for my own safety..

Hubs is out working the foundation for our new coop... 12x32 it might not be big enough.

We got 14 chicks end of May last year from the local feed store. 5 Sexlink and 9 Barred Rock. One barred rock got hit on the road and sexlink I'm not sure exactly what happened, Found the body later. I think it got stuck behind the archery target setup. There was one rooster that we had to elimate last month because he wouldn't quit attack our 2 year old son.
Chicken math... last month got some 3 day old chicks, 7 amerucanas and 2 Welsummer, 3 khaki Campbell ducks... 1 Welsummer passed the first night, so naturally had to replace it right?? Yeah, the next week I went to replace it with a couple 1 day olds, come home from the hatchery with... 2 Welsummer, 3 white crested black polish, 3 silver polish, 3 black Australorp, 2 silver laced Wyandotte, 3 Welsh Harlequin ducks and 1 Cayuga. I probably would have gotten at least 1 more Cayuga, but it was the only one. A few of the breeds are straight run, so we will have to get another batch of chicks later this spring to try for more pullets, depending on how many rooster we end up with.
It's a real problem this chicken math, swung by the feed store for some dog food and it's a good thing they had sold out of chicks or I would have been obligated to have brought more home.
One of the Khaki Campbell's isn't doing well, if it doesn't make it, I will of course have to do some duck/chicken math and replace it.. because -1=+4 right?
My husband is just as bad as me, which is both good and bad..
