Jeline:

I am also new to chickens and live north of Marshfield, WI. We are also trying to decide what kind of coop to build and type of chickens. Where in central WI do you live?

Oh, we do live fairly close to each other., Barred Plymouth Rock, Red Star, Golden Laced Wyandottes, Easter Egger, Buff Orpington and Buff Brahma. Its hard to limit yourself since they are all so pretty. I just know I can't do bantams since my barn cats will eat them. I need bigger chickens that can hold there own. How about you what chickens are you thinking about?

I have so many different ideas...I need to narrow it down! We are only allowed 8 here, so I am limited :( I will let you know what I decide on. :)

gilbsmom: Of those, I have the Barred rock, GL and SL wyndottes, EE'rs black and Lav orps and Lt Brahma. The EErs have so far been the sweetest freindliest of the bunch!!! My Brahma was the cutest chick and loudest, my orps are gentle sweet royalty!!! Good choices!!!

Hey all:

These are the breeds that have interested me so far:
Australorp, Brahma, Cochin, Easter Eggers, orpingtons, Polish, Rhode Island, Silkies, Sussex, & Wyandotte.

I am looking for good layers & some "lookers" :)

Does anyone have any of these, preferably chicks? I am also up for suggestions. Mixed breeds are OK too.

Thanks much!!
Amber
