Chicken "mutt" club!!!

Pics
Yes! My camera finally finished charging, so I was able to take some pictures. I have 6 different breeds, 2 of the barred rocks, I'll name them in the photos... Oh! and by the way, The discriptions are at the bottom, NOT the top of the pics... This is Brooke, my australorp. She's the only one not to run from my hand when I reach in the brooder. :(
It isn't always so bad that they run away...mine always run towards my hand...they are convinced that it always has something tasty in it. Which would be fine if all 17 of them didn't rush to my hand and proceed to try to peck it clean...they're only 4 weeks but 17 month old chicks all trying feast on your hand at once is pretty ouchie...I should probably stop hand feeding them before I lose a finger. It's like handfeeding a swarm of sharks, if sharks only had one sharp tooth..lol

Quote: I have 2 red sex links right now, and they don't look like that at all. Mine were orange chicks with 2 dark orange stripes on their backs, and then the tips of the wings are white and the rest of the chick is red. They might be golden comets, sexlinks, but through different starting breeds. The adults are almost buff in color but have white spots throughout, or they might be something else entirely. Google golden comets and see what you think. That's how I figure out what a chick is. I google all the breeds it could possibly be and then just find the one that matches. When a chick starts to feather in really well it gets easier and easier to google your way to the answer.

I think red sex link is a generic name - do you have Red Stars? At the feed store they call any bird that is yellow and reddish "Rhode Island Reds" but I have no clue what the breeds behind it are. Maybe there really is some Rhode Island Red in there, who knows? Those two look like the "New Hampshire Reds" or the "Rhode Island Reds" from the feed stores, which I was told were a red sex link bird. Unfortunately Google doesn't always help - too many people thinking they have one breed and they don't. Just go take a look at Americaunas.. what a mess!

My RSL were from a bin marked assorted red pullets. Google tells me they are red sex links...

But since golden comets are another name for Red sexlinks I'm still not right, but I don't think they are red sex links aka golden comets

The pictured chick looks like it has a pattern to it. My RSLs starting feathering in with hire wing tips, and then 3/4 of the wing is red with the tips being a solid block of white. They are all feathered now except their heads, and they are solid red except for the white wing ends...

Some people are saying it is a mix, but my Rhode Island Red came from a well known hatchery, and looked almost exactly like that a few weeks ago.
thats what im told so far im leaning more towards rir it really doesnt matter im in it to raise for eggs but would b nice to know what breed they are

My mutt hasn't grown (the polish×silkie×barred rock) she is still really small and annoying. But I hope she grows because I don't want a pocket sized mutt.
