I wish I had more land/money to have more chickens to breed them an make cool mutts! I've always dreamed of making my own chicken breed! An having more chickens is the way to do it!

Lol, chicken math. Gotta love it! I'm thinking I might HAVE to create my own breed, (JOY!) as the genetic material for Malines fowl is sadly lacking due to its rarity. You can only inbreed for so long....Is ok, breeder gave me some ideas to work with. Yeah, yeah, I'm going to bed now. Yes, really. For sure this time..zzz...zzz....

Now my banty roo is the largest bird in my coop! I've decided to name him BrahMutt. He appears to be in part Brahma. Anyone have any guesses what else?

He's only about 12 weeks old right now, but he's the reddest face and his comb and waddles are noticeably bigger today than they were just a few days ago.

These are the chicks my broody hatched this week.

The father is a Welsummer and the mothers are either Hyline or Black Rock. Having said that, none of them resemble the Black Rock that I can see. Any ideas anyone? I would also like to know if any of them can be sexed at this age? Not that it really matters, I am just impatient!

These little cuties came from a mixed flock of light sussex/speckledy/bluebell/warren and black rock hens with a black copper marans cockerel. There are 8 black/mostly black one silver grey and one yellow! Can't wait to see what they look like when they are grown ups!
