Aren't they little devils, tho?

My bantams have been hiding eggs for 4 days now. I swear I looked everywhere even behind a portable nesting box I set out for them. Since they don't free range they had to have them stashed somewhere in the run or coop but I couldn't find them till this morning when I checked a corner behind the portable nesting box. Yep, 14 eggs. I have no idea how I missed them but somebody was sure storing up eggs for broody intentions.

You could try moving your broody, nest and all to a safer place. She obviously is dedicated to them. A broody pen is worth it's weight in gold.

Good luck...sure she and the rooster weren't having......ummmmm...conjugal visits when everybody's head was turned?

Well... I scooped them up today and brought them inside, cuz we're supposed to get bad weather tomorrow. Of course I kinda vaguely candled them with my cell phone light. THERE WERE VEINS! They're alive. Lol. I grabbed my incubator and plugged it in. It only has room for 7 eggs, but she hid 17. Sooo... I gave her back 10. I haven't looked closely cuz it was really unexpected. But now I have questions! I have no idea how many days to give them in my incubator. Did I disrupt nature with my need to intervene? I'm gonna need to know when to up the humidity. Aaahhh!
Not gonna count my chickens before they hatch, but... looks like another chicken adventure. GRANDCHICKS!
(I did go check on her a bit ago and she's back on her nest. So maybe I didn't mess things up too bad.)
