Chicken Names share their names here

Awe, so cute! Little Poo!
Are these your only birds? Uhm chickens? Have you had more in the past?

Here's where I chat like I know something I just learned last week

RIR? Heritage or production I think they call it? That's mine a production ROR that as of today has not yet produced anything, lol
We had 9 originally however 6 were Roos and we lost one the second week. Little Poo got his name as he had horrible pasty butt. I think the RIR is a production hen. She is producing nicely, started layinglast month and lays almost daily.

Everyone has such cute, awesome, whimsical and endearing names. I thought it would be so cool if we could post name breed and sex!

Let's try to keep it simple. Thank you all!!!!!!

Bernadette: Blue Copper Maran
Astrid: Light Brahma
Beatrice: Buff Brahma
Elrfriede (Elfi): Easter Egger

-To be fair, Astrid and Elfi were originally Bartholome and Elfleda, as all the girls were named for Saints. I just started calling them the wrong names and they stuck.

No chickens here, just guineas. I've always had fun naming them, especially since guineas are such quirky, funny birds.
I recently had to rehome them and miss them a lot. My favorites were:
Pearl gray hen named Pip (short for Pipsqueak)
2 matching pied Pearl grays named Peep and Repeep
2 lavenders named Thing 1 and Thing 2 (from Dr Suess, because they were crazy wild)
White male named Cracker
Thanks

So sorry you had to get rid of your quineas. I love the names! You have a good balanced rythem to them without doing the obvious
Like it would have been Tweedledee and Tweedledum or Jack and jill for me

Beautiful names for what I bet are beautiful birds! Have you had chicken before these?

I've only named 2 of my 19:

Valentine- partridge rock - because she is so red and is the most loving. I call her a 'puppy chick'.

And Gretchen (Weiners) , my Mean Girl EE. She's a bully that nobody else wants to be around, but she acts like everybody loves her and wants her company.

Last year my mom got into chickens. We had just a few about 2 years old and no rooster. She ended up with 3 roosters that didn't get along (imagine that)! She gave us one named Mayo after her hubbys friend. The hubby has several good ol boys who all love their drink and have all been friends forever. So when I started acquiring roosters I started using these old foggies nicknames Surprisingly enough they worked perfectly!!! Mayo (random huge white rooster)
RedRoot (big Rhode Island Red)
And Chief Superfly, we just call him Superfly (lavender ameraucana)

Yes these are the nicknames of real people and I can't get over how well it suits my boys!

**no idea what Mayo is but he's a great rooster!! Here's a pic of him
