I have six hens: Harmony, Henrietta, Annabel, Camilla, Prudence and Charcoal. No special stories for most. Prudence was the last chick to hatch and it turned out to represent her attitude about life: caution, caution, caution. Just today I realized I only have ever held her twice because she's always eager to get back to the safety of the coop when I try to round them up. Charcoal got her name when she hatched the color of charcoal. I didn't think I'd keep that name, but my family pointed out a restaurant I've eaten at before called Charcoal Chicken. I thought that was ironic and good for a chuckle, so Charcoal got to keep her name.
Prudence is the bird inside the run; Charcoal is the dark bird outside the run.
