That right there is worth getting another chicken for! We got our chickens after moving from where our friends are located and it was a way to sort of keep them around. We had told people we were going to name the chicks that way and there was some rivalry on who got a chick named after them. The friends that were flattered wanted to keep up on how "their" birds were doing. They actually felt some sort of ownership in how the girls were doing and if they were laying...I sent feathers to some of them which they enjoyed. The couple that were less than thrilled, well, that just turned into a running joke with them. It was always fun to tell the big bruiser friend of DH's "congratulations, you laid the biggest egg today", or the fashion-conscious friend how bad her pasty butt was, lol.
