Chicken names

We have:

Brownie (darker brown than the others)
Amelia (likes to fly)
Arrow (had an arrow-like marking as a chick)
Blossom (my mother named her)
Rosebud (originally was named Terminator but turned out to be a hen)
Nellie (my 90 yr old great-aunt)

We promised my grandfather that if we get a rooster that we'll name him Ed after him. My grandpa is Polish, so I should probably get a Polish chicken. Polish Ed the Rooster.

we have some names picked by me and others by my boys:

Black SL: Danaerys (a book character) and Cindy (Cinderella)

Love the names.

My grandson is crazy about the movie Chicken Run so my four girls are Bunty, Babs, Mrs. Tweedy and Eggwina. He honestly can't pronounce 'Edwina'. Bunty is the pushy one. Babs is out of her tree and obsessed with the red toe nail polish I wear and will stalk me to try to peck at it. Mrs. Tweedy has one hell of an attitude and poor Eggwina spends all her time just running around the pen and trying to get out of the gate. Maybe we should have called her Ginger.

I guess we should name all of ours but only a few have names....

Marshall Cogburn - our big Barred Rock Rooster (Yes I am a John Wayne Fan)

Goldy - our Golden Sebright rooster

Goldy Hen - our Golden Sebright hen ( Been in Love with Goldy Hawn since I was a young boy)

We have:
Puff, the white silkie banty
Mary Sue, the giant black cochin
Joy, the splash gold laced wyandotte
Judy, the black sexlink
Ginger
Big Mama
Giant Fluffy Butt (GFB for short)
Senorita Brownback
and then there are five without names because they all look alike, collectively known as "Heeeeere chickens!"

Most of my chickens have boring names like Maude or Flower (our first three, R.I.P., were Marigold, Matilda and Maryanne).

However the sussex roo rejoices in the name of Pants

And although the three red stars we got to replace the much-missed original three were theoretically going to be named Marigold II, Matilda II, and Maryanne II, my 5 year old son (whose chickens these three nominally are) has decided that their nicknames should actually be Tree, Grass and Person.

He also named one of our chantecler pullets last year "Ladder".

I recommend against assigning naming duties to young boys, unless you want to be scratchin' your head for a loong while after
