Chicken Names?

Cool thread! And timely- I just brought home two little blue splash Marans chicks yesterday. I wanted to name them after marbles, so one is Aggie, and then I had to look up other kinds of marbles, and I settled on Peppermint.

(Peppermint is the whiter one):

My other hens' names are:

Wilma, a buff Orpington
Betty, a black Australorp
Jenny, a barred rock
Daphne, other buff Orpington
Wendolene the Welsummer

Four Lavender Ameraucanas:
Ghost
Mist
Fog
and Mr.Green Jeans (We thought this one was going to be a boy.

And tonight I pick up three cream legbar chicks, so I'm going to have to come up with more names.

I might just copy some of the ones in this thread.

That is so funny. I picked up a lone BA chick yesterday. She is about a week older than the Brahma I have and right away earned the name Bossy Betty.
I also have a Buff Laced Polish that is named Misty and another one named Jennifer.

Great minds must think alike.

Ha Ha! What a coincidence.

How I decided on the name Jenny was, on the way home with her in the car, I was talking to her, and I called her Henny Penny, generically, since she didn't have a name yet. I really didn't want her to be the 1 millionth chicken named that, so I thought I needed something different that rhymed with Henny instead. So Henny Jenny came to mind, and that was that.

My little Jennifer is very very tiny and has suffered through many tushie washings due to pasty issues. I figured since she is so very small she needed a large name.

I picked up a couple Iowa Blue pullets about 4 days old if even that. I am thinking one is going to need a huge name since this morning she seems a little to sleepy for my liking. (I am going to start some honey water for her if I do not see improvement within the hour.)

I have four red sex links named polka, mable, bourbon, and molasses.
Just gonna throw in here that I was going to get a lemon cuckoo orpington rooster and I liked the name hubert; after the best commercialized lemonade brand I have ever had.

I have 5 hens.
The 2 Buckeyes are Pat Benetar and Joan Jett.
The 3 Easter Eggers are Debbie Harry, Gerald The Chicken Formerly Known As Cyndi Lauper , and Fernando the Chicken Also Known As Ann & Nancy Wilson.

I had already named the chicks before they arrived. I like Heart, but not enough to dedicate 2 chickens to them, so Ann & Nancy had to share a bird. As if that wasn't weird enough, the kids got involved. So I allowed them each to name one bird hence the Gerald and Fernando. But I liked my 80's pop rocker theme too much to completely let it go.

(My next flock will be classic country star names. Minnie Pearl, Dolly Parton, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn and June Carter Cash - until the kids get involved again!)
