Chicken nesting box

Okay, I was just told to put a 2x4 on top of those roosting and see if that would help. Maybe the roosting bars are not wide enough?

They look plenty wide. Mine seem to prefer about a 2" diameter branch. If it's too wide, they can't grab.

You can try raising the nesting boxes so they are not level with the floor. You can also close off the nest boxes at night. They are probably sleeping in the boxes and not in their roosts, so by closing off the nesting boxes at night, they know where they will sleep and will therefore, go to the bathroom while on the roosts.

You want roosts higher than nests....maybe you meant raise the roosts?
