How do I keep my six month old chickens from pooping in their nesting box

How often do you change what you use for bedding?

I've only had them over a week now and I put fresh straw hay like in their nesting box Saturday and this morning they had poop in it and I took it all out and replaced the hay. I have done this several times last week when I see poop in it, I will change it every time.

Are they roosting(sleeping) in the nests at night?

You don't check on them after dark when you lock up the coop?
