Well we have 6 chicks that arrived 4/17. I have a neighbor that gave me a small old coop of his he no longer used. No ventilation but working on that.

I also added a vinyl tile floor, larger door and nesting boxes

As you can see I am started on my run and 5×5 coop is getting closer to being done. I have only used scrap materials so far. I am now working on a list to hit the hardware store today. Plan on using 1/2 inch hardware cloth barrier about 6 inches deep and 24 inches out. Metal roof over run. Open to any suggestions or thoughts. Thanks for looking.

Check Craigslist for chainlink fence and security slate insert. If you have raccoon, the chicken wire don't hold that well.

You might want to also add a coat of primer and some outdoor house paint, makes it easier to keep things clean and keep the wood from absorbing moisture.

Looks like a decent structure to fix up, and you're already aware of ventilation issue. I agree with maybe seeing about putting roofing over the nests as well, to prevent rain water from getting in, in case that becomes an issue.
