Chicken Palace Construction

LOL!! Have a vivid pic of that in my head now.

Did you angle cut the ends of the skids?
Ya they have an angle cut on one side. Not sure what angle it is but it's no longer a 90* angle.

Great so far! About to start framing my walls, this is helpful. Im new to building.
These are the videos I watched to learn.

Not much progress was made this week. After several 40 hour weeks I worked 63 hours last week.

Day 5

Finished the other side of the front wall.

Installed 2 D-rings. One on the inside of each 6X6.

I also had a buddy come by and tow the floor into place.

Day 6

Laid the linoleum on the floor and stapled it around the perimiter to hold it in place while I satnd the walls. I also leveled the floor by placing some bricks I had laying around under the skids in the low spots.

Walls stood up.

Some sheathing done. I'm saving the nightmare sheathing of the front wall for last.

Day 7 and 8

More sheathing. boy will I be glad when I'm done sheathing. And I got the roof up.

The holes on the sides will be sheathed over.

Sheathing done. door and window trim done. Window shutters installed with bolt latches installed.

Why no roof overhang on ends?
Watch for leaks there.

looking good so far, I like it! I will agree with aart though, you're going to have leaks on the side walls. at the very least the roof rafters should have set on top of the side walls or even better if they'd have hung over the sides.

With where it's at now, I'd put flashing on the side wall down 8 or 10", extend it up and over the decking about the same and put the roofing material on top of that

Well poo. I do plan on putting flashing on the corners of the roof, tar paper, and asphalt shingles so I didn't think it would be a problem. I'm also caulking all the seams.

A roof needs to go out further than the walls, at least a bit, the farther the better.
