Hi all- my CCLB was panting heavily before going to bed last night and while she was in the coop and even still this morning. Temps were about 75 at night and even cooler this morning. What could be wrong? I’m new to chickens so can’t tell if here face is abnormally pale. She didn’t lay yesterday but I’ll be on the lookout today. Other facts are that we just got rid of her rooster friend Sunday and added a new silkie same day- not sure if that would be any stress on her? SOS. Anything I can do to try to help or is she fine?

Chickens pant when under stress. They pant when overheated. They pant when in pain.

Check her over carefully, starting at the head and working toward the tail. Check crop. Check throat and ears. Check abdomen for swelling, either in front of the legs or behind the legs.

Monitor her poop. Monitor behavior. Anything "off" in these two areas may be cause for concern.
