Today I thought I would share my future plans with my chickens and hope you will do the same.
Whether it's new chickens you will be getting, building a new coop, your breeding plans, or anything and everything you have planned for your chicken adventures!
My plans are: I only plan on hatching 4-5 eggs and then no more chickens lol (but we aren't fool'n anyone right) I will set 3 serama eggs 1 silkie and 1 silkie polish cross. Then I will need to build a coop in Tennessee since we have land up there to and when we go there for 6 months at a time the chickens are coming too. This is the coop I want except a little bigger.

I am planning on not buying any new chickens (besides the ones I am hatching) till everyone is passed away, then I will start over. I just like to do it that way but hopefully they all live a long time to come after all they are only 1-2 years.
I may do some small shows around town in time to come, my chickens are not show bird but it's worth a shot I guess. Well that's me I will stop for now and keep updating for ya. This thread is for sharing stories and plans so join in I will update on my flock fun and hope you do the same

I am planning to introduce the ducks to the chickens, add a pool for the ducks, and continue selling eggs, as well as letting my birds free range more often. Cool thread idea btw
Those are wonderful ideas, I'm hoping to start selling eggs once all my pullets come into lay. I wish I could get ducks But I just don't have the capabilities to. Thanks I thought it would be fun for everyone to share their ideas

First off, good luck lol! Chicken math is real! It becomes an addiction after a while. I started as a small flock owner years ago, today I am proudly part of the OCD community. Obsessive Chicken Disorder.:lau

Just double checking, you know they can live much longer than 1-2 years right? Healthy chickens with a good setup, good biosecurity, and an educated owner, can have chickens up to 13 years old. Chickens can live a long time if cared for properly.

Also, for anyone building a coop, you should know these requirements. Note these are basic requirements, and I highly recommend you make the coop and run larger than necessary. Doubling the amount of space even. Then if you ever get more you will have plenty of space.

These requirements are per bird-
4sq. ft in the coop
10sq. ft in the run
1ft of roost space
AT LEAST more is better 1sq. ft of ventilation per bird.
1/4 nest box per bird.
