I have a total of 11 chicks right now. One hatched out of eight eggs two weeks ago (major incubator failures). And the other ten hatched out of a dozen that I put in a week after the first set.
Mostly, they seem to be "normal", but I have never done this before. They started in a 28 gallon tote and that quickly became apparent that it would be too small for more than a few days. So last weekend I built them a 4'x4' brooder. Have been using the heating pad "momma", which they seem to enjoy. In the tote they were over a towel and then the shelf liner netting type stuff on top of that. Been on non-medicated Manna Pro chick starter. Transitioned them to a 2 gallon bucket with nipples which they took right to when I upgraded the pen. Until a couple of days ago, there was nothing in the water. I put a tiny bit of apple cider vinegar in it 2-3 days ago.
I think that's enough background. The oldest chick has had weird poops on/off. I want to say that when it was younger it had some watery ones. And some darker colored ones at some point as well. But the last several that I've noticed have been airy. I hesitate to say foam, because there is structure to the foam. If that makes any sense. It keeps it's form when he poops. He happened to look poopy when I picked him up this morning so I let him go on the back of my hand to get a picture.
Any concern here? First pic is as it comes out. Second a smeared it to show what it looks like inside. A couple of days ago he had one that was half like this and half like a normal poop with white urinates at one end. Looked like all the other chicks' poop. He's the only one I've noticed this in so far.
