I think I am going to reconsider some of the breeds I was going to breed. I think I'm mainly going to work with the Sussex, my Seramas, and then the Orpingtons. I'm very fond of my Black Orps, but I would like all the Orpington colors.

A rainbow of orpingtons would be a very pretty sight to come home to! It's amazing how many colors orps come in. I do have to say that I am extremely jealous of what you do have. Right now I have two ten by ten pens each with it's own coop. My LF are in one and the bantams in the other. I have nine chicks in a brooder in the garage and NO IDEA where I'm going to be putting them... {sigh}. We only live on three quarters of an acre in a rural neighborhood. So, no free ranging. Someday I would like to own more land and have a couple of good size pens where I can divide breeding groups. We'll see, I guess!

I would love to import some Orps from the UK..but talk about expensive!

I would LOVE to have some Silver Laced orps....

At some point will I stop seeing new breeds of chickens I want to add to my collection? Seriously! I saw some pics of Houdans and Polish and am now adding those to my mental wish list!

Aspen, if I ever find that guy I met who breeds rare birds, he has lavender and several other colors of orps. Want me to price check for you? OMG, I am such an enabler!

J are you forgetting our own Hen Tymes from N.C. she breeds L orps and would sell hatching eggs to I think.

she has a georgeous Blk orp from English lines who she shows.

I have a White Leghorn in the layer pen that is stealing all the eggs! I watched her roll an egg from one end of the tractor to the other to sit on it. When I got to that corner, she was sitting on 5 eggs! WTH? I thought Leghorns never went broody?

Miss Lydia, nope - didn't realize HenTymes did those colors! I had asked if she had buffs, still looking for a good roo to keep my ladies in line, but didn't really pay attention to the other colors!! Goes to show how observant I am right now!!

I've found that all the packages I recieve that the eggs are "wrapped" up in an egg carton don't hatch. I've had the best hatch rates from eggs that are wrapped over, and over, and over with bubble wrap until they cannot move around during shipment.
