Second chicken swap of the month today after the twins make up soccer game. I will go prepared to come home with an amazing roo for my LF pen. I will get a chicken today!! I hope... And hopefully someone will take one or two of my extra Roos because three hens to five Roos is a bit much!!

Thanks

You betcha! We wanna know more about you AND we wanna compare notes on how your addiction got started. (Mine simply happened. Got chicks, they grew up, one went broody, hatched a single chick, I bought incubators and hatched shipped eggs, my flock hatched some more, I hatched more, etc. etc. etc.)

I was ever so surprised when I realized EACH chicken has its own personality! Besides loving a very colorful, mixed flock of chickens, I love THEM. It's NOT just how they look.... although that certainly helps.

I bought a trio of Lemons, and then he gave me the younger LCO cockerel and said if I didn't take him he was going to eat him!

He gave me the White Orpington bantams, and said if he hatched out anymore Whites he'd give them to me. He also gave me 28 Bantam orp hatching eggs. He has Blue, Black, Splash. Plus the white eggs from my birds. The little hen layed an egg in the traveling box on the ride home, and then layed an egg Saturday I think, and then I found one this morning. She is so cute! Tomorrow I'm going to work on coops for them. It's rained here the last 2-3 days so everything is wet and muddy. Including the chicken pens.

Well, grandma had old laying hens. i looked after them, and then, my uncle bill gave me a black sex-link. she had feathered feet too. after that, a brahma x and a bantam buff orpington came to.... ummm..... comfort her (though this was my first time seeing the pecking order!). ahhhh, then along came a mutt rooster and a sebright hen. (mum was not happy!) breeding it was. my firse ever hatch, was with the rooster and brahma x hen. got 6 egg and 3 hatched. i was sooooo excited! all now 9 months old! 1 rooster and 2 hens. rooster was named Romeo and the hens, juliet and snowfire. then came, my silkies! 2 white hens. and then a white roo. the thing was, 10 months before that i loathed silkies! (its true!) then along came more and more and more!
now i have:
7 laying hens
1 brahma x hen
2 silkie hens
1 silkie roo
1 frizzle roo
3 wyandotte, cochin, langshan x roo's
1 bantam buff orpington hen
1 black sexlink hen
1 mutt roo
2 silver campine hens
2 brahma x hens
1 brahma x roo
8 new chicks &
12 eggs hatching soon

which means i have 31 chooks and 12 eggs hatching!

so i enjoy chatting to you all and so on!
