Yes, they work wonderfully! The one in those pictures is ONE of my two EcoGlow20 units; I also have an EcoGlow50 unit.

I will never, ever, use a heat lamp again. Ever.

The chicks go under them as necessary, coming out to eat and drink and run around. When they get cold, they just go back under it. There is no bright light on all the time, so they get the natural night time darkness and don't party all night long like heat lamp raised chicks did. The electrical cost is significantly lower, which is another plus!!!

The heating plate is on the underside, so they press up against it at first when very young. 3 levels to set it from just hatched chicks to older ones. But I set it with one side in lowest slot and the other side in the middle, so they can fit as they grow. They will spend a lot more time out of it than you would imagine. It's much more natural and like a broody momma than those heat lamp set ups. After a while, the chicks will even jump on top of it. It's plastic, so easy to clean.

I highly recommend them.

I think most peopl in my year at school know my hen just laid her first egg!!! As for chicken math...

also I am desperate to buy stuff that's chicken related and I get chicken related presents (I don't have an issue with it) but it does show something!! Oh well I don't mind being a little nuts!

I looooove my ecoglow 50!! I have two 20's I need to clean up and sterilize and I'm going to sell at least one of them - the 50 is so much nicer!

Here is my brooder setup, with automatic nipple bucket and ecoglow. No heat lamp, no shavings in the water. Love it!

How much you gonna sell the Ecoglow 20 for? I am seriously considering getting one since Annie said she would hatch me some chicks and I really really HATE the heat lamp thing. I can't sleep at night worrying it will catch on fire in my back room. ( I use wood chips in my brooder, hense the worry about fire)

I'd rather buy your used one than pay shipping on a new one. I am hoping we all get together for an egg/chick swap at Annie's this spring (early spring). If you come we can close the sale then.

That is exactly what I needed! Thank you! Ugh...the waiting to hatch is torture. My wonderful friend just gave me Silkies (sorry Linda, I know they aren't your fave)...it's nice to have a flock of them again! Can't wait to hatch some freakazoid fluffballs, too!

Niiiice!!! I may have to reintroduce NN's into my flock again. They were so cool looking.

I really like your brooder setup...the heat lamps freak me out, too! I'm so afraid of catching the brooder on fire, or one of my kids or their friends burning themselves. Plus, I don't think it is good for the chicks to always have a light on...it makes them crazy. There's no real downtime and peace to rest if there is a light blaring at them around the clock. In hindsight, I should have put that on my Christmas list. As far as the nipple waterer, how difficult is it for the chicks to figure out? And where did you get the little water bucket?

Ohhhhhhh, Muggs! I have 12 silkie eggs in two Brinsea MiniAdvance incubators due to hatch in less than two weeks.

Yup. Silkies. My friend's silkies sucked me in at last. Pictures do NOT do justice to silkies at all. I had to see them animated and live and cheerfully puttering around her yard to decide I wanted some.

Ordered some eggs from Cjsilkies. Or maybe I won an auction for 'em from her. Whichever.
