Chicken Predator CSI - with crime scene PHOTOS.

There ya goo. Good luck trapppin. And what ^^ said, 22. does a good job. Aim for heart. Not the head, Head shot with a 22. itll still be alive. Heart shot itll end it quicker. I prefer 20 gauge. As it ends it within the second u pull the trigger.
Good luck!
They like chicken :p
Shotgun at close range is messy. Head shot with .22 effective if brain actually damaged. I target brainstem immediately anterior to where neck and skull connected.

Agreed. .22 cal. head shot to base of skull at the neck junction is lights-out. Optionally, instead of a live trap, try a 160 or 220 conibear. It will break the coons neck and/or back and kills them instantly. They're cheaper than the "hav-a-heart" style; I think I paid around $12 for the last Duke 160 I bought. Check your local game laws as legality will vary by state. Here, you can use a 220 or greater at a minimum of 5 feet off the ground, but you can do a "bucket set" with a 160 on the ground. Bait with marshmallows so you don't accidently kill the neighborhood cat.

Using a shotgun will stand a good chance of tearing up your trap. I use a .22 pistol with a well aimed shot to the head about an inch above it's eyes.

Despite your loss, i really appreciate the uncensored, bluntness of your pictures. pretty awesome.
I think we need to retrace our steps here.
Were there any fibers, hairs, footprints, tracks or paw prints found at the scene? Did you run dna tests on all the blood samples found at the scene to determine if there was another species there, other than chicken? Don't rule out a homicide, or possibly a triple homicide-suicide. Chicken on Chicken violence is a growing concern in more poverty stricken coops.

lmao

You'll have to keep us posted with what you catch. I just baited mine with pb covered marshmallows and the left over bits from the chickens they killed last night (3 of them).

let me clearify. Let it out of ur "live trap" and then shoot it with shot gun on the run. WIth bird shot, i hardly even see blood come out of them. U dont even see holes in them they are just, well dead.
as for conibear defintly put it where nothing else will get into it! as the feller said. Neighbors cat. You dont want that. Not a pretty sight.

Baits ive used that work great.
Chicken (obviously they tatse good)
Peanut butter
Berries (strawberries/blackberries/blueberries)
Sardines
Corn

I havent had much luck with the marshmellow, i dont know why they dont seem to want it. All my trappin buddies swear by it.
