Chicken Proof Run-- Have We Made a Mistake??????

All predators are bold. ;)

Actually, my experience is that suburban raccoons are more bold than rural ones. They are accustomed to people.

When I lived in the mountains, coons would run if they saw people and especially people with dogs. These coons in the city are something else. They sit on the fence staring at me and my dogs (who go berserk) when we are trying to shoo them out of the backyard. I get a broom and poke at them and they growl and bite the broom but don't budge until I get aggressive and try to whack them off the fence. My favorite thing is to knock them off the fence into my neighbors yard who has a pitbull who puts the fear of God into them. My Shelties have taken out possums but are no match for an adult coon.

Suburban raccoons have never been shot at (no discharging firearms within the city), so they don't know to be afraid.

Plenty of city people here have stories of big male coons charging them when the people were minding their own business out for a walk after dark.
