Alot i'm using up now is over-buys that shouldn't have been bought.

I inheritaded a bunch of 80's dusty rose and powder blue from my mother, that's all going into string quilts this month. Did I mention the neon penguins? Or flouresent fish? I have a liking for deeper shades, so this mauve assault must end! I'll snap some pix of how awful these are.

OOOOOOOOOOOO Neon penguins!! I've got some flouresent fish!! I've got "kids" fabric coming out my ears. I get a lot of it from FreeCycle or Craigslist for quilts I make for a charity for kids in the poorest ares of the mountains.

Even the quilt I made for myself has kids fabric. Beach ball, pails and shovels, crabs, sand castles. Guess that means I'm a kid at heart

I'm doing up a bunch of baby sized ones from project linus to practice piecing, sewing and cutting on, and using up the ugliest of the sack. My mom sewed a bunch of my sister's clothes as a kid (sis still has awful taste) the neon penguins were from a pair of toddler hammer pants. I found 10 yards of green calico in 3 prints (why? mom never quilted), and enough mauve florals to give someone allergies. Quite a few were ugly as 2 inch strips so i took them to an inch.

Saddina, Did you get the last Project Linus alert? They are asking for 10,000 quilts before March 1st to sent to Haiti. I have a couple in the works to get finished to send. One of our local stores is collecting them and paying to send them for my area.

I think I'm going to be snowed in by Saturday. As long as the power stays on I will be working on quilts. Got to get the Red/White and I-spy swap finished up so I can start making chickens and butterflies!

Babymakes6, I've put together the first chicken and stars and have found that the template is not turned over. I'll do the rest like the illustration. I just redrew the lines on the back of the paper to trace. If you look at the star outline on the pattern sheet, you see it is the same as the color pic and it's not supposed to be! Here's my pic.
