Chicken run and stumps

I am planning on building a coop right where some very large, pulled stumps lay. I was going to have then moved at $400 but then I thought if I put the coop up against them I could build the large run around the stumps and the chicken may "play" on them. Would they play in and around them? Pitfalls to this idea is that maybe they would try and roost or lay up inside the stumps where I can't get at them or some other liability to haveing a 3 dementional "run" that I can't think of. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Mike

I'd leave them - but they sound intriguing if there are areas where the birds could hide and not be accessible...got pics?

Also, I love Bar Harbor - beautiful part of the country there.

Our chickens have 1/2 of a stump in their run. There was a tree right where DH needed to run the hardwire cloth so he cut the tree down and sawed the stump in half from top to bottom. Then he ran the wire across the back side of it. The chickens love to play on it.

Are the stumps still in the ground, roots attached? If not, and they aren't the size of a small car, hook a strap to the stump and move it with your truck. If they are in the ground, I'd leave a few in, but I would square off the tops if they haven't been already.

Sounds like a neat addition to have in there as long as you can build around them.
