My wife and I are planning on getting chicks very soon. About 8 total. We have plenty of space for them but we can't decide on where to put the run. My wife's choice is next to the garden where 90% if it is already fenced. We don't have predators here and will have plenty of room for free range so a 4ft fence should be fine. Our neighbor has about 15 chickens in her yard and has never had a problem with predators or chickens getting out. But my main concern is where my wife wants the run to be. It's not very flat ground and the lower half gets pretty wet during the rainy season. Please see pictures below. If we choose to use this spot, I plan on adding dirt to the lower part to help with drainage, etc.
The spot I am thinking would be best for them is much more flat but requires about 100ft of fencing.
