Chicken run

Please help I don't know what else to do I live in NC and right now we r gettin a lot of rain but with that it's making my run so deep in mud that my birds are having a hard time walking in it I have tried hay and pine chips to cover it but after one rain you can't even tell a difference what should I do?

You could use sand.

Thanks that's what I was gonna do anyways but the guy at tractor supply told me the chips work better so I guess sand it is thanks

Sand might turn the mud to 'concrete'.
....and it will often stink terribly after a while.
