Is it safe to put lime in the chicken run? Someone told me it would keep the smell down but I was worried that it would hurt my chickens.

Im not sure about the lime, but Ive found that if I do a quick poop scoop everyday in the run I have no smell. I covered my run with rock screenings from the local rock quarry and I just scoop up the poop daily and it works great. But I only have 7 chickens right now.

I put pelletized lime in my coop whenever I notice a smell. I did it this morning.

The pelletized is slightly more expensive but it is not dusty -- no white footprints, no clouds of lime dust for me and the birds to breathe. I swear by it.
