We used to say growing up that if you want anything in Maine it is going to take a minimum 2 hours just to get to where you need to be to do what you want to do. hehe It is why ppl in Maine live in a totally different time than the rest of the country. When I first moved away I could not believe how impatient everyone was, heh
Anyone grow this in pots? My chickies are indoors for now and we don't have any space for a permanent garden (rental house). I think they would love some fresh growing greens judging on how they tore apart my philodendron plant.
I just started a few planters that I will rotate in and out of their run. As they begin to get a little too worn, I will rotate them out for a while to rebuild and grow. I have flowers in some, grass in others. I may try some lettuce as well. I have lots of seed so why not?
Mine LOVE Lettuce, Costco runs deals on their iceberg 3 pack lettuce here where you can get it $1/bag. My girls love it when that comes around. Usually every 2 weeks as their produce starts turning bad.
Just found this thread and I'm curious. Do these all grow up through the 1/2" hardware cloth? If not won't the chickens get frustrated and obsessive trying to peck through the holes to get them? I want to do this but I was thinking of just growing various grasses in them so they would grow up through the holes.
I am a vegan so I don't know if ineat chicken food or chickens eat vegan food but whichever way round we almost eat the same and they have never yet refused a morsel
