Hi everyone! I am new to backyard chickens and I just got my first little flock a couple of months ago. One of my chickens seems like she’s gasping and unwell. She’s around 2.5 months old. I’m not sure what to do as I’m very new to chickens!
here’s a link to a video of her gasping.

I’ve also attached a picture of her that shows how dull she looks :(

She doesn't look like she is panting, so I doubt that she's doing this because she is too hot. Is she still breathing like this now? If so, have you checked inside her mouth to make sure that there isn't any obstructions or blockages causing her to breathe this way. Is she having any other symptoms? How is her crop?

She is still breathing like this, yes. She has been doing it for a couple weeks. I didn’t really think much of it at first because I thought maybe she was stressed from me holding her, but now I see that she does it most of the time. I checked her mouth today but didn’t see anything. I used to work at one of my local vet clinics so I’m going to ask them about treatment for gapeworm. Is gapeworm common? I live in BC, Canada. I’m not sure what else it could be. I will check her crop tomorrow. What exactly should I be looking for? I’m so new to this🙈

My opinion is that she is hot. My chickens do the same "gasping", too.

What other symptoms does she have, besides gasping?
Mmm, I don’t think it’s because she is too hot. She does this even when it’s not very hot out! She is slower than the other chickens and keeps to herself a lot. Not sure if that’s a personality thing or if it’s a health thing. Her eyes are almost droopy and she seems very light in weight.

Gapeworm is pretty rare, especially in your location, but it could still be a possibility. You can try deworming her to see if it helps her symptoms. If it doesn’t, then it’s not Gapeworm.
