Chicken showing signs of sour crop and also having trouble breathing.

Hello all!

My three-year-old sex link hen has the symptoms of sour crop; squishy and fluid crop, no appetite, and lethargic. However, she is also having respiratory issues. Her breathing is labored and she’s wheezing constantly. There is also mucus around her nostrils and her front is damp. She gets these fits where she sneezes and shakes her head violently. She is also having diarrhea. Right now I have her isolated from the rest of the flock. She was fine this morning at 7:30, but when i got home from work she was displaying the symptoms I listed above. What should I do?

When was her last egg, has she been having problems with egg quality?

Does she have any bloat or feeling of fluid in the abdomen below the vent between her legs?

Any signs of canker or lesions inside the beak?

A crop problem or a fluid filled crop can sometimes cause respiratory distress, especially if the hen has aspirated some of the fluid. Often a crop problem is a symptom of an underlying condition like reproductive disorders, worms, coccidiosis and/or infection.

I'd begin addressing the crop symptoms according to the article below. Do check her over for lice/mites as well. Photos of your hen and her poop are welcome.
