How do you train/get a chicken ready for a show?

How do you do showmanship with chickens?

Yes, I have shown. Thank you @Chicken Chiquita ! I think the simplest way to get signed up is to join a local 4H group. They should teach you how to show you chickens.

But you can start now by choosing a chicken to show. Work with the chicken a LOT. Also, it is nice to have a bantam. The smaller they are, the easier they are to handle. And the easier they are to handle, the better you'll do. It is nice if they are a purebreed but not necessary.

There is Showmanship and Quality. Showmanship is when the judge is judging you and Quality is when your chicken(s) are being judged.

You'll have to look up on youtube or the internet how to go through the steps of showing a chicken. It takes a while. But in my experience the best way to do it is to have someone teach you in person.

Yes, but I would recommend finding somebody to teach you how to give your chickens a bath. It can be dangerous if not done right. But if you do decide to do it by yourself, make sure NOT to get the chicken's head underwater because even a second or two underwater could drown any chicken.

Showmanship depending on the judge. So.w years they only cared that we knew anatomy and parasites/diseases. Other years they wanted breed history of the bord, us to k ow how to properly cage a bird and would have us to history of the breed next to us

Also purebred doesn't always mater. My reserve champion year I had a mixed breed rooster and my friend barely (like a point) beat me with his mixed breed hen. We were the only mixed breeds on that table
