Hello. Whenever my chickens see me, they run up to my feet and let out a low drawn out baaaaaawk. Does anyone know what this means? I assume they are asking for food.

I think they associate you with food and therefore a maternal figure, and are affectionately calling at you. (That's just my oppinion, anyway)

If when you come out to see them you often bring treats, then yes, they are looking for food.

I figured! I always have treats for them.

Yeah, they're definitely looking for treats my hens do the exact same thing because I'm always bringing them treats they come up and say braaaaaaawwk brawk brawk brawk.

It's so cute. I spent some time with them in the snow today. They seem like very happy girls.
