I'm wondering if one of my hens is . . shall we say "confused?" I have two dark brahma hens -- Tillie & Hilary. Tillie, as far as I can tell, is fairly quiet about laying her eggs. But Hilary sings at the top of her lungs when TILLIE is in the nesting box. And, what I find even stranger is that, Hilary doesn't really seem to sing when she herself is in the nesting box. She does sing after she's left the box and struts around screaming out her song. So, is Hilary just kind of weird for singing when Tillie is on the nest?
I also read a little about that cooing sound. Tillie is like a puppy, following me around. For some odd reason, she likes to walk between my feet, or sit right between them when I'm standing still. But, she always seems to have this low, content cooing going on when she's following me around. Hilary, on the other hand, is always looking at me somewhat accusingly, and will actually growl at me if she wants something. Sugar and Salt, or Sweet and Sour, these two girls are. Neither is mean, though, thank goodness.
