Is there a difference in chick quality between hatcheries? What is the proper way to pick hatcheries/breeders to buy chicks from?

If you know what breed / variety you are interested in, check to see if there is a breed club website. Generally there is a breeders directory on there somewhere.

If you want to show, or work on supporting a breed to the standard, you probably want to avoid a hatchery. If you are just keeping a backyard flock for eggs and prettiness, hatchery birds will meet the need.

    Good luck on your search.
