I'm wondering if anyone can help me out. I have 2 barred rocks that have been laying for 5-6 weeks. About 6 days ago one started brooding her eggs and the other quit laying. They are free range part of the time and pinned part of the time, we left them in the pin for 3 days to make sure she wasn't laying somewhere else and we still didn't get an egg. They share a coop with about 18 others and we have tryed to provide privacy

should I be worried? She doesn't act sick or lethargic.

hmmm... that stinks!!! i am not sure I am interested to hear what others have to say as I noticed my girls were laying 5 eggs every day and the last 2 days we only got 2 eggs each day. I think mine arent laying because of the heat?

A change to hot weather can cause them to stop laying because they tend to eat less in hot weather. Eating less leads to them not having enough protein in their diets to produce eggs. Remember that egg whites are almost completely protein and that has to come from somewhere. It's normal for a broody hen to stop producing.
