Chicken Sty

Huh, 2nd thing I've learned today. Wow, who would have thought that it wouldn't take care of itself. I'm glad ddawn, once again caught my toss! lol- Thanks for clarifying dlunicorns name.

And please I'd love to hear how the girl comes out of this. I wonder if birds have the nerves like we would have when you get near their eye. That sounds like a pretty stupid question, because every thing moves when an object comes near, but like the pain before or after the absess removal.

There has been extensive research studies on pain in chickens... leg pain etc yes but as far as the stye goes to my understanding she shouldnt feel a thing... she will just get stressed from the procedure itself and that is the funny thing about chicken pain... when they are stressed out it blocks them from feeling the pain.
I have a couple articles on it somewhere in my library

As soon as I get more information and have the procedure done, I will let everyone know and I will post pics of the eye after the sty has been removed. I hope that she is not stressed out and in pain during and after the procedure. I'm curious to know what the vet will charge. It really doesn't matter. It's just that I have never brought a chicken to a vet. I have only bought my dog and cats, so this will be another experience. I will let everyone know the cost as well.

Update:

Right before I took my girl to the vet, her sty burst and it's gone. Thank goodness!!!! I will try to post a pic of her eye, so you can see the "After". Thanks for the replies.

She lays at 11:00 am daily and I work during the day, so I won't be able to get the pic until Saturday. As soon as I do, I will post her pic.
