If she's egg-bound she needs immediate treatment.

I don't think use of a mister is related to her current condition (I have and use one) whereas dietary changes might be.

If egg bound is suspected, give human calcium with vitamin D 300 mg to 600 mg orally once. Pictures of the hen and droppings may help.

Thanks. I did give her a better exam, did not feel anything inside with lubed gloved finger, though she does seem a bit swollen feeling down there externally (I was afraid to squeeze too much). I gave her an epsom salt bath for 20 minutes and am keeping a close eye on her.

She does seem more active/feisty today and did eat a bit of the egg and a few fly larve. Will try to get pics and update more later.

Swelling or enlargement under the vent and belly could be a sign of salpingitis from internal laying, or water belly (ascites.) What do her droppings look like? Are there any yellow urates in the dropping?

She might have had difficulties with getting a soft shelled egg out.

She has not, her shells have been good.
