wow, that was quick, i felt a little sad, no mottled d'uccles, then sick about the lost in shipping, then i went to check the date, and thought, oh, no worries. and here they are!!
this all worked out well

I am a Nervous Nellie I guess! LOL!

Just never had a 2 day shipment before.
Now I am wondering why I am so crazy about keeping the little ones warm, when these poor little guys are going two days without anything! They never cease to amaze me.
Now to get the kids on the bus and go get those babies.

I used to do crafts to sell....but now i have 4 kids ages 10 yrs to 10 months. Crafts don't happen anymore at my house.

When the kids leave the nest, maybe i'll do them again, who knows.
Raising chickens is turning into quite a project for us---but a fun one, and the kids LOVE it.

I got my new chicks today---well, the half-order they sent this week. 1 was DOA, the others seem a bit weak (they spent an extra day in the mail). But i'm hoping that gro-gel and vitamin water will help them perk up. They are such amazing little things!

They are home, very thirsty and hungry. Most are very active, a couple are a bit sluggish, keeping my fingers crossed for them. But, all arrived alive.

So, my experience with Welp Hatcheries ends up being a good one.

I got all worried from reading other threads, that'll teach me!

All the little black mottleds are in great shape. So Chickn, let me know how many you want? I had ordered 5 extra, but you don't have to take all 5.

The hatchery called me Monday and said they were in the box shipping out that afternoon. I thought i would receive them yesterday. I got the call from the PO about 7:20 today. I had to get my kids off to school too, then pick up the chicks.

The lable on the box says they shipped May 12 (Tuesday). My April order was over-night, so i was worried about the extra time in transit. Today, one was DOA, but so far the others are doing ok. For a long time they kept huddling under the light, even though the thermometer read 100. Now i'm wondering if the thermometer is believeable?!? (it's brand new this spring). Anyway, i know to watch the chicks and follow their cues whatever the thermometer says. They have plenty of room to move out from right beneath the heat lamp. Now they are mostly dotted around, instead of huddling together.

Baby chicks are SO cute, but seem a little fragile. i will relax a bit more when they get big and strong, like my older ones.

Now if i can only figure out which kind is which. LOL

Yeah, I just figured out my older ones, I think. Now I have to figure out which is which with these. They are so tiny, all bantams. I can tell the mottled d'uccle, they are black. The blue dutch and the self blue OEG, forget about it, lol. The porcelain and golden neck d'uccle are also pretty hard to tell apart.
