one of bubbas hens is a buff brahma. maybe she is the mom. what kind of a comb does yours have? a friend of mine hatched a smooth black tailed buff roo. he is super good looking. I suspect the brahma is the mom there too. he has a cochin comb from dad.I only have one pullet, a HUGE black-tailed buff frizzle girl. The strength of frizzling he produces is really lovely. They feather out late because they are so dang curly, and they stay frizzled to the very ends of their tails. Let me get done with the batch I'm raising right now and I'll be back, I promise!
sorry to hear you lost one.No, sorry. The hawk is backand I lost one of the two boys today. If it wasn't illegal I'd![]()

Good thing I have 6 more boy chicks to choose from. Now my oldest one is like gold as the back up roo is gone.
sorry to hear you lost one.
I don't let my boy out of the building. I would be beyond upset if something got him.
hey....I have a little man and I would help too.Thanks. I'm super upset about it really but I've got a couple of contacts in the CL world that will help if needed and think everything will work out. I need to get that fence and netting up before next spring though as it seems this hawks not going to migrate.
Received some super cute chicks in the GFF "suprise" pack but nothing I want to raise as I was hoping for Tolbunts or Jubilees. GFF was great and sent lots of replacements for the CLs that didnt make it through the storm last week. I'm going to grow out the suprise ones and take them to Springfield in Jan as pairs/trios. I'll try to get some pics tomorrow of the ladies. They are really turning out to be very cool looking. All but one has a poofy toupee.

I have netting on my pen. I see hawks all the time. it is pretty hard to keep ahead of all the bad guys.
do you know what breeds you got in the surprise lot?
can't wait to see your girls
ok....so I had to go lookup most of those breeds to see what they looked like. very interesting and expensive. you are getting the coolest stuff. Thanks Janet, I thought the hawk had migrated for the season, hadn't seen it for weeks.
Included were Black Breese (traded for spring Jub Orp eggs), Rhodebars, Hemedoras and an Isbar (doa). I can grow out 3 trios for Jan with the Rhodebars. Need to grow the Hemedoras out in order to be able to know what I have. Catdance silkies hatching on ThanksgivingAlso more Marans and Lav Orp eggs going in. These I'm going to grow out for the 1st March swap. I'm sure I'll run across more eggs as well that I need to hatch. I've read somewhere there's a NYD hatchathon...how can I pass that one up?![]()
