CHICKEN SWAPS OF NH SWAP LISTINGS

Hi All,

I will be visiting the Milford swap, I am looking for some pearl guinea hatching eggs. I prefer the pearl color but will consider other colors as well. Looking for half a dozen to a dozen depending on price.

I am also looking for half a dozen white Silkie hatching eggs.

Yep, that is Archibald I got him a couple of years ago. I love him. He is so cool and so much fun. I wish I had gotten him when he was younger because he is pretty timid and won't let you touch him.

I had four chickens, one that I got at a swap, and three that I got at the Deerfield fair but I lost two, I guess to old age or something(they died a few months apart) and now I just have two chickens-Chicken Little and Lacey- and Archibald happily watches over them.

I'd like to add another couple of birds to my "flock" It's funny, I only like Bantam size chickens, yet I LOVE turkeys as well

Couple of questions,
What is the current status of NPIP testing in NH fees/scheduling?
Do you still need to sell Poultry less than 4 weeks of age in groups of 12? For some reason on thought this was changing?

you would have to call the state to get an accurate answer on the npip question.

The law in the state did change on the 12 chicks. the new law in this state allows you to sell any quantity you want. that being said, many establishments feel that would not be in the best interest of the chicks. Many stores think it would be irresponsible to send out single chicks. The stores set their own policies. Tractor supply and osborne agaway have minimums. you would have to check your local stores to see what their policy is. Chicken swaps of nh has also set a minimum. Any vendor who sets up with us needs to sell 3 chicks to each customer if they are under 4 weeks of age. Tractor supply has a 6 chick minimum.
I want to be VERY CLEAR on this point. We are a registered business. We set our own policies. We are an independant business running swaps in New Hampshire. If we see any vendor sell less than 3 chicks under 4 weeks of age at a swap they will be asked to leave and will not be allowed back. We do understand that there are circumstances when less than 3 makes sense. We are sorry but this is our rule. If you want to sell less than 3, have the customer come to your home.

I sometimes think I would like to get a couple of Narragansett hens for him but I think I would need to add on to my cage if I did that. It's a pretty good size now but for two to three turkey's I would want it bigger. And I'm not sure if I could just add one turkey vs two.

Everyone I know who has a turkey loves them.
I like very tiny or huge. lol
Hope you find something special at the swap. we have alot of vendors who have been hard at work raising chicks this winter.

On the NPIP question I just got an email from Cindy, the grant money for NPIP testing expired March 31st, but the state has reapplied, and hopes that it gets reinstated.
Also thanks for sharing the info on the <4 week minimum policy.

Yes we live near Walpole. and we hope to setup & sell this year at Walpole & Claremont.

If we want to sell at a swap do we need to register ahead of time or can we just show up and register?

And my last question is if we are not selling older poultry, do we still need to have our flock NPIP tested?

We are setting up the testing ASAP, but not sure when it will be complete.

Are you going to be posting what we can expect to see at each of the swaps? I looked for Milton, but didn't see anything as to what should be there...
