Happy New Yr. Hope all is well. I am looking forward to the swaps.an hardly wait to add 2 Welsummer hens & 2 Black copper maran hens. Looking for female Cotrunix quails. Have males to trade oe sell.
Got a sick Silkie right now, one of the little ones died, and this is another of them younger ones, and it's making me crazy, so I am headed out to strip pens, disinfect and pray that the others don't get sick, (the recuperating baby is in what will SOME DAY be my laundry room!! LOL), and I am going to give it a good check to be sure that there are no mites or other creepy crawlies and maybe give it a warm bath....then start giving it Colloidal Silver to see if that cures what ails it! If anyone has suggestions on what to use or NOT to use to spray down the hen house, I'm all ears!!
(I am planning to use malathion)
How many Coturnix males are you looking to sell/trade? My laundry room STILL isn't done, but I def want to get a couple from you, and then I'll look for w couple of females

Sorry about the sick chick. I lost one of my twins back in early Nov. right after the last swap. & U knew I lost my crooked Roo
I want to sell or trade at least 3 of the males. I love their chirping, but I want eggs. & at this point I am not going to hatch any. I will B lookn for females.
Awww.....I think I do remember that you lost your lil crooked man
I'm sooo sorry.....
And as far as the sick Silkie, from what I have read this is why young chickens are separated from older birds....
live and learn...I will need to rethink this whole Silkies raising babies thing...thinking about building another 'barn' so that once they're feathered out they'll go in there. Maybe, we'll see. OH!! Got a crowing Silkie too!
Now I am praying that he doesn't come down sick too....they all act fine, and even the "sick" one acts good, just not walking right....he eats good, drinks good and talks a lot, so we'll see how the CS works. He drank quite a dose this morning, and I mixed the rest in with his water, and will continue to put it in the water until he's walking right again.

When my baby chick died she showed no signs of being ill. the twins were be-bopping and playing like always.Guess they were happy 2 B out of that small cage & back home. Same with Captain Roo, he was showing no signs he was ill, just not moving quick.
Well I can do a set up in the basement if need B . I do need to trade/ sell my male Quails, to many 4 my 2 females. I am going 2 have to put my girls in a smaller pen 4 now. I bought 2 wooden bird feeders @ Agway, turned them upside down so the female Quails can have a place 2 hide from the boys. They sit on top more than they go in. lol
Hope UR chicks get better.

Tell Greg we hope he feels better. We were sick between Christmas and New Years. Doing much better now.
Who is Carrie?
oh, you mean mischief? I didn't know you renamed her.
I miss her.
