I'm so old I Remember when:

Never watched Downton Abbey - as a family we watched all of those.
I don't watch much anymore but about a year ago I had time and opportunity to watch all of D.A. (but none of the movies) The series is pretty good. You'd like it if you enjoyed U.D.

LYup.
I remember when we got TV.
I remember my dad took a course by mail in the mid 50's on TV repair. He built from scratch what became our second TV. It worked great for years but never had a cabinet around it. Had to be careful around it or else.

So as some of you know, I put my roosters on Kalmbach 16% Maintainer feed (Low Calcium) having concerns about the roosters getting too much calcium.

After a couple of months, some of my girls started laying lash eggs. I'm going back to the 17% layer feed.

Gonna have to figure out how to proportion things out with the 16% low calcium feed.

Blue can... 17%. Layer. Red can... 16% roosters only.

Now I'm sad. You reminded me of summer afternoons spent "talking" to the bob-whites. I haven't heard one in at least thirty years!
We have Bobwhite Quail and Fireflies on our farm. We also have wild Morning Glorys and Honeysuckle growing everywhere along the brush line.

Ever consider putting them all on 20% all-flock and putting oyster shell out for the layers? They will help themselves when they need it, the roosters won't touch it.
