You could call the store and speak to the manager or you could pm blazzingsaddles on this thread. He runs most of the swaps in NH.
The new TSC in Hooksett would love to have them but they have to find out from the town if they are allowed. They are real nice people there. Good luck!

I know that Greg has talkes to the TSC corporate people to run swaps all over the State. I have volunteered to take point on Walpole - should Greg discover he can not be in three locations on the same day

Well I did total disinfection of the coop , I pray no others get sick. I wish I knew what happened 2 the 2 chickens.

When the weather warms I will be looking for a wellie roo. Right now I do not have a breed pen for them until it is warmer. That was why I got rid of the roo. He was low man and I was not sure he could defend himself with my other Roos for the winter.

You did not say it so please do not take this the wrong way

. I will knock on wood before I say... I have not lost anyone this fall or winter. I have read a lot of terrible stories about everyone lossing their favorites in our State. And in the new england region. I just want to eleviate any fear you may have that the roo could have brought something. I will not be so naive as to guaranty that he could not carry something. He left here months ago and I have not seen the slightest sign of sickness.

Are they getting drafts as cold as it had been? I leave my door shut when it is this cold.

Again I am so sorry for your loss.

Oh No, I don't think Mr Roo brought in anything, it's been to many wks in between. I am so baffled , I have a slight opening on 1 window 2 let in some fresh air. I was told I should have an opening of some kind 4 that. I didn't do that the last 2 yrs, so I am wondering. I have a light on as well. This is the 1st yr many chickens will not go out, I keep the area around the coop shoveled & even have thrown down shavings. I am so sad @ loosing them. in 3 yrs I had only lost 1 & now.. I disinfected everything. I did check for lice as Puff'n was so bald again. I saw nothing, I keep powder in the area they dust bath in & put in down after every cleaning B 4 I put in new shavings. I want 2 bring them 2 the vets 4 peace of mind , but hubby isn't going 4 it. I am not hearing any coughing at all , U think it's best I close the window completely ? Thanks 4 replying. I am so worried.

Draft is what I would be worried about. Is the air from that window going to blow directly on them? Also having the door open when it is 2 degrees out is not something I would do. I give them extra hay to scratch in inside if I know they will not choose to go out or be let out due to cold.

Ok. Yea.. The window opens direct across from the perks where most roost. It is just a crack, but I never did it B4 , this is the 1st yr, my friend got me worried about "bad" air , as she stated. I have many more Chickens than I have had the past 2 yrs. So it made me worry about them having fresh air.

. That mayB my error ~ Ummm ~ Makes it harder on me knowing it really may have been my fault
sad.png

it bums me so, as I keep them well cleaned & feed & I have neighbors that the coop is so gross & the yard is so muddy & gross when it rains , if they lost any they never said, I wouldn't want eggs from them after what I saw & smelled. My chicks R so spoiled with fresh food on top of their regular feeds.. Anyway, Hubby proclaimed he didn't want me stressing over it all.
Any suggestions & ideas is greatly welcomed. Thank U

((HUGS)) ! ... don't beat yourself up ... you do so much more than most to care for them.

With the really cold winds coming in - I would close the window for now...

The easiest thing you could do would be to cut a hole in the wall up high (possibly above the window? or door ? ) that prevents the wind from blowing at them through the window and still allows the air to circulate. ... or a roof vent

(but I'm not that high-tech)! lol ... I have a a 5x10 coop with 22 chickens they have a "chicken door" to use in this cold weather so it doesn't "air out" the whole coop - and they do come out and investigate for a "little" ! while
smile.png
... I keep the big door closed ... and I cut a 8"x10" hole in the wall by the roof and use hardware cloth to cover it on both sides of the wall - away from their main roosts and ... The odor is minimal (if you smell ammonia then the ventilation isn't enough).

Ok Thanks.. I do not smell ammonia. There is a small hole where the line goes in for the heat lamp
I'll have Hubby look at it & get another hole drilled. I have now 18 chickens. a smaller coop that is closed off B cause I didn't have enough chicks 2 keep each other warm in that. 3 yrs into this with no bad luck, I am bummed. Puff'N was the very low girl & Biscuit was the low Roo, they were a couple. Puff'n was so sweet & needy . Thanks 4 the words of support.
