As she said I have a heating grate 3x5" ish that is inthe wall way up high by the ceiling. It has the slits in it for a forced hot air heating system that makes the air go up or down. Works great as a vent.

~~ Ok . I closed the window 2nite. It was only open a hair, but mayB just enough 2 B more of a draft than fresh air, I don't know, but I shut it anyway. There is a board in the back that drops down / opens , but it really is open, I only open that in the good weather/ summer.
I have 2 work a couple of hrs 2morrow, so I can still keep my eye on them. I just pray no more get sick.

Thanks for the info .. I happy 2 have it...

How is everyone today? Did the window closing help?

Looking foreward to the chicken swap at the TSC in walpole, will be my first ... hope I'm not working that day...
Has it been a rough winter weather wise in NH for chickens with all this cold weather, and snow/ice we're having ?
Just want to plan for my flock for next year... Is providing any heat reccomended in the winter..?

Cool!

Do you have a date in March for us to put on our calendars?

I know about the snow...been very busy this year! I guess it is good for business security - but I would like to see my husband a little bit

Well I hope there is no snow left in March. I don't want to put young birds or babies out when it's still yucky . I am hoping not to have to house them inside this yr.

Snow just keeps on coming here in the southwest corner of NH also !!! I've been trying to work on my new chicken coop, but the weather just doesn't want to cooperate, I've just been spending my time plowing my driveway, and clearing my roof ... yikes!!!! let's hope for a milder Feb or March !!!!

Been a long winter here and it's only January. Glad to see other people need the swaps too. LOL. My chickens have fared the weather pretty good, lots of deep bedding, deep hay around the edges and plenty of warm water to drink.

I want to build up my showgirls and silkies some more, so I need for March to come along.

Right now, I would take some black flies happily......sick of the cold and snow.
