I'm re-testing early at the end of February instead of waiting till May. I think doing it at Winter Break each year might work better for me with my schedule. I have a scan of my current card and info and will scan my new info also. Do I need to send a copy of that via email or PM to Blazingsaddles? I've never done the swaps, just attended but would like to really try my hand at a few more locally held ones.
Nice looking day out there today. Did a dog poop sweep around the house with so much snow gone...YUCK!

Question those of you that hatch from your own eggs how many days do you collect before putting them Into the incubator? This year is my first year hatching from my flock

I usually collect for a week and then set. I've read that eggs can be up to six days and suffer no loss of hatchability (if stored properly during those six days). After six days, hatchability begins to suffer, but not drastically at first. I imagine you could save eggs for 2 weeks or more and still get good results. After all, a momma hen will spend a good couple of weeks laying a clutch before she settles down to incubate. But I usually only set a small incubator full each round, and 24 eggs fills it to the max. So if the girls are laying well, I'll get more than 24 in a week and I can pick and choose which ones to set.

rule of thumb is 10 days. I have pushed it and gone 14 days with very good fertility. I store my eggs in the cellar so they stay cool with pointy end down.

all you need to do is bring a photocopy with you the first time you set up.

I got an egg turner today for my next hatch but it doesn't say which way to put the eggs in it? Pointy end up or down? Sorry if this is a still question.
the big end has the air cell. when the chicks hatch they push up into the air cell then out they come. you may leave the eggs in the turner as long as you unplug it or you lay the eggs on their side for the last 3 days. some people hatch in egg boxes.
