NH STATE CHICKEN LAW CHANGE JULY 22 2012
JUST Got off cell with state dept of health regarding ******* pet store in Plymouth (bunny never ate treat much.... had prfect care).
Anyways... The 12 chick limit is going away on July 22,2012. Doesn't think it will change on bunnies but you can buy 1 or 100 chicks soon. Governor Lynch already signed it they said. You all may already know of this but it.was goodnews to me.

Thank you. I did hear that the Law was going to change . But didn't know just when. Yes Good news :)

That was never a recognised state law.It was for shipping chicks only.Pet stores used it so they could sell more chicks.

All right I have to ask.If your birds need to be tested before any event, then how can you have a rooster round up with untested birds? How does this round up work? You release roosters and people chase and catch them? Then they go home pick up thier birds at home and what? Now you've exposed your tested birds to who knows what.I think this is a very bad idea and practice for any group or club.If birds are required to be tested, this means for every event not just the ones someone chooses.

We do understand that it has to be separate. That is why I said why not do it after the swaps are done or even on a Sunday when there aren't any swaps.

Oh ok~~ I mentioned to the lady that came here from the State Argi dept that I had bought as few as 4 chicks & she told me they are suppose to be sold by the doz. Hatcheries do have a limit that they will ship. My 1st chicks were a gift & they came from My pet Chicken & my 2cd order came from them. I am checking whats available now & shipping costs.

It was a law that wasn't recognised until hatcheries started to ship chicks across the states.Back in the 80's you could walk into any feed store and buy 2 or 3 chicks with no hassles. Now a days stores need ways to make sales and this is one of their ways.
