They should all have to be tested if they leave your yard and go to someone elses, even if they are going to end up in the freezer. If (supposibly)the state requires all birds to be tested, then none are exempt.
In N.H.,Tony.
The advent of so many people who are new to poultry in the last few years has caused some changes to the regulations that are making it difficult for everyone. The system was not broke, but they decided that they had to fix it. A bunch of meddlesome busybodies decided that they couldn't leave well enough alone, pestered the state dept of ag office with so many questions that didn't need answers, that they tightened up the rules to be even more restrictive. For example, the rule was that your flock needed to be tested yearly in order to show. Birds under 5 months didn't need to be tested, but were still covered under your flock clearance when they matured later that year, and could be shown. A couple of dopes complained that that didn't make sense to them, just because they saw some birds at shows without bands and wrongly assumed that the owner's flock had not been tested. Now all birds at a show need to have a band. That may mean that an exhibitor has to test twice a year now, or risk missing out on being able to show at the early fall shows if he waits until all of his young of the year are mature enough to test. Then there is this whole fringe element who make pets out of their chickens, think of them as their children and defiantly refused to have their babies tested by the obtrusive government in order to participate at swaps or shows, endangering the health of birds owned by the rest of us responsible breeders. They quickly learned that they were wrong, that the state can and will enforce the testing requirements. These idiots have mostly now either complied or gone away, but not before making it difficult for the rest of us by increased scrutiny.

Can not wait to see you all at our Stock in Claremont on July 7th. Anyone bringing anything to sell that I should add to the list? Anyone looking for something that is not already on the wanted list?

Let me know maybe I can help!
