Hi Phil,
Thanks for the tips. My friend did a Google Sketchup drawing of my concept. After seeing what it might look like 'in real life' scale, it looks pretty darn big.

If I go with this size, I may need to reinforce it with a horizontal brace running along the length of the topmost section of the roof. Perhaps a line of PVC pipe joined with T's and X's could help. Or... I could make it smaller and still to the roof bracing, depending on the overall weight and sturdiness of the finished prototype. Also, the base would have 4 raised cross-braces that could double as perches. I would raise the cross-braces maybe 1 foot off the ground or so to avoid hurting the chickens as the structure is moved.

250 sf PVC COOP is a really good idea.
