Here's your Q:

Describe a true bantam (I won't except just "miniature chicken"!). Compare a true bantam with just a bantam. What was the founding breed for most bantams? Are Silkies true bantams?

(I know Happy Houdan has already answered this, I just want a shot at it.)

A true bantam is a bantam with no large/standard fowl counter part. An example: Rosecomb bantams. Whereas a bantamized (is that even a word?? lol) breed is a bantam that also has a standard fowl counterpart. I believe the founding breed for most bantam breeds was the Nakin. And I'm almost positive that Silkies are a true bantam breed.
