My girlfriend was the one who spotted it and then showed me. I saw it do it 3 times but apparently was doing it for a while. I will ensure I take phone out with me in future. I thought primates were the only animal to use a tool. That said she is the craftiest and bravest of all our chickens (always escaping in an adventure on her own)
I have seen the birds pick up a stick but never use it as a tool. I would discourage your bird from escaping. I had a couple of birds Houdini-1 and Houdini-2. They escaped one too many times. For one I found feathers behind the coops and the other just disappeared. I am lucky as I have multiple coops. I had some habitual escapees recently. I moved them to another coop and so far so good.
